Capturing the essence of nature on fabric

Spend a relaxing and rejuvenating day with artists Sarah Butz and Bonnie Bowman. Unwind as you explore the abundant Florida flora and fauna surrounding Bonnie’s studio to gather leaves, sticks, flowers and other treasures that you will use to create beautifully colored and printed fabric and paper.  Join us.

• “Hapizome”- pounding plants to transfer their color and patterns on paper and pre-mordanted fabric.
• Create Gelatin prints- using natural materials you gather.
• Bundle sticks, ferns, leaves and flowers in silk scarves and use steam to extract colors and patterns on to the silk.
• Silkscreen botanical designs on to pre-dyed cotton fabric.
• Harness the natural process of oxidation and allow nature to create a beautiful rusted scarf.
